BirthRoots: We have exceptional childbirth options including doulas and post-partum doulas, as well as out-of-hospital classes, midwives, and a birth center. Unfortunately, for economic and insurance reasons, these services are not always accessible to all of the families who would choose them. Birth Roots is a 501C3 nonprofit devoted to removing the financial obstacles to accessing these pregnancy, birth and postpartum care and support options. Through fundraising and networking we provide need-based scholarships to families who would not otherwise have the means to choose the holistic care services found in our community.

Real Life. Real Talk.
Services: Real Life. Real Talk. is a social change initiative to increase open, honest, and balanced talk about adolescent sexuality among parents. RLRT aims to help parents understand teen reality and adolescent development, as well as have the opportunity to talk with other parents and "experts" in comfortable settings. A major programming component has been the "Sex Ed for Parents" event, which is hosted and facilitated by the RLRT partner organizations, like the MaineHealth Learning Resource Centers. Sex Ed for Parents couples documentary footage of national experts and teens with a live, customizable "expert speaker" section that can be changed to vary topics, etc.

Mindful Maine Mamas and Papas We are a group of families wanting to develop relationships with their
children based on mutual respect, mindfulness, and a sense of humor. We
organize free multi-age general and specialized playgroups, parent's nights
out (welcoming babies) as well as occasional community forums on pressing
issues (e.g., baby and toddler-wearing, cloth diapering).
